Johnny Ron Morelock, 54, of Kingsport, passed away unexpectedly in his home on Saturday, July 26, 2025. He was born in Hawkins County on July 19, 1971, and raised in Colonial Heights, where he graduated from Sullivan South High school. At East Tennessee State University, he was a member of the Sigma Nu fraternity and continued to stay in touch with his fraternity brothers. He was the first in his family to graduate college. Johnny went on to serve in the United States Marine Corps. He worked at Arby’s as an assistant manager for several years and at AT&T as a manager for over twenty years. In his free time, Johnny loved to go to ETSU basketball, football, and baseball games with his family. He spent time working on cars, maintaining rental properties, and riding his Harley-Davidson, “Rosy.” He belonged to the Porsche Club of America. Johnny was dedicated to generously helping other people however he could– whether they were family, friends, or strangers.
He is preceded in death by his older brother, Jeffrey Morelock; his stepfather, Elmer “Skip” Lewis; and his mother-in-law, Gerrell Lequieu.
Johnny is remembered by his wife of twenty-five years, Sabra Morelock; his sons, Noah Morelock and Jonah Morelock; his mother, Wanda Lewis; his brother, Jimmy Morelock; his sisters Sandy Kitzmiller and Shawna Vermillion (Michael), several nieces and nephews; and his father-in-law, Richard Lequieu.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 31, 2025 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Sr. Pastor David Mullins officiating.
Graveside services will be held on Friday, August 1, 2025 at 12:00 p.m. at Oak Hill Memorial Park.
