J.R. "Johnny Ray" Hambrick, aged 69, passed away on December 4, 2023, in Meridian, MS. He was born on October 17, 1954, in Meehan, MS. J.R., lovingly known to his family and close-knit friends, was a person who possessed admirable qualities and left a lasting impact on those who had the pleasure of knowing him.
J.R. had a deep appreciation for simple pleasures in life. He enjoyed working on cars, listening to music, and spending time outside. Sundays found him avidly watching NASCAR races and indulging in the thrill of the sport. While his hobbies brought him joy, nothing compared to the moments he spent surrounded by his loved ones. J.R. adored his daughters and cherished his role as a dedicated father and loving pawpaw to his four adoring grandchildren. He was their unwavering supporter, always providing guidance, lending a sympathetic ear, and offering a strong shoulder to lean on. J.R.'s infectious sense of humor never wavered, even during his time battling illness. He possessed a remarkable ability to bring a smile to people's faces, and his absence will be deeply felt by his daughters, grandchildren, family, and friends.
Professionally, J.R. excelled as a diesel and automotive mechanic. His dedication to his craft and commitment to providing quality service were evident in his work, earning the respect of colleagues and customers alike.
J.R. leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. He is survived by his brothers, Doug Rutledge, Leslie Eugene Hambrick Jr., and Tony Hambrick, his sisters Sheila Hambrick and Annie Litchfield, his daughters Pamela Hambrick and Shaina Hambrick, and his grandchildren Natalie Stewart, Steven Stewart, Destanie Stewart, and Paxton Johnson. J.R. was preceded in death by his father, Leslie Eugene Hambrick, mother Emma Jean Hambrick, and sister Debbie Sellers.
A visitation to honor J.R.'s memory will be held on Saturday, December 9th, 2023, from 10:00am - 12:00pm at the Webb & Stephens Funeral Home (North Location) Meridian, MS. Following the visitation, a service will take place to reflect on J.R.'s life and celebrate the legacy he leaves behind. J.R.'s final resting place will be at the Meehan Cemetery.
Pallbearers for the service will be Tony Hambrick, Steven Stewart, Steven Litchfield, David Mabry, Dickie Alsup, Chuck Alsup, Joey Alsup, Stan McDonald, Stevie Lynn Smith, and Tommy McCall.
Webb & Stephens Funeral Home is honored to be assisting the Hambrick family during this difficult time.
J.R.'s presence will be greatly missed by his daughters, grandchildren, family, and friends. May his memory remain a source of comfort and inspiration for all who were fortunate enough to have known him.
