Johnny Ray Tripp Sr., 71, passed away on Saturday, November 8, 2025.
Visitation will be 1:00-2:00 pm on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at Carlisle Funeral Home with the graveside following at 2:00pm at Edgecombe Memorial Park officiated by Pastor Richard Braswell.
Johnny is survived by his wife of 48 years Gloria Tripp; children, Shelby Tripp Meeks (George) and Johnny Tripp Jr.; grandchildren, Abigail Tripp, River-Lee Meeks, Molly Meeks, and Bailey Tripp; and sister, Brenda Kinnin.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Johnny Rodger and Ethel Lee Tripp; and siblings, Mary Lancaster, Joey Tripp and Jack Tripp.

Johnny's life was defined by generosity, compassion, and a love for helping others learn and grow. A dedicated teacher at heart, he graduated in 2005 and went on to spend a decade sharing his knowledge and kindness with students at the college, Martin Middle, and Beaufort Prison. Outside the classroom, Johnny found peace and joy in tending to his plants, nurturing them with the same care he gave to the people around him. Known for his giving spirit, Johnny would truly give the shirt off his back to help someone in need, and his home was always open to anyone seeking comfort, friendship, or a warm meal. His kindness, warmth, and unwavering generosity will be remembered by all who knew him. One of his greatest joys was spending time at White Lake, where he and his family gathered every year to relax, laugh, and make cherished memories.
