Rev. Johnny McCoy Warren Sr.

Rev. Johnny McCoy Warren, Sr. was the son of the late Jesse Gino Warren and Elzina Powell Warren. He was born on February 04, 1938, in Ivor, VA. He departed this life on October 27, 2025, in Chesapeake Regional Hospital, Chesapeake, VA. Johnny was the seventh of nine children.

He attended the public school system in Southampton County and was a graduate of I.C. Norcom High School in Portsmouth, VA. Rev. Warren received his doctorate in Theology from United Christian College-Goldsboro extension. He was a faithful employee with the Norfolk Naval Shipyard, where he retired after 35 years. He was also a veteran of the US Army.

Rev. Warren married the love of his life, Irene Stokes Warren, on February 1, 1969, and from this union, they were blessed with two children.

Rev. Warren pastored for over 39 years at Cuffie Chapel in Dendron, VA., Zion Chester in Chester, VA., Oberry in Franklin, VA., Mount Zion in Lawrenceville, VA., and Walton's Grove in Hobbsville, NC. He was the epitome of servanthood. Pastoring was his heart and passion, a true servant of God.

Rev. Warren was preceded in death by his three brothers, Jesse L. Warren, Samuel W. Warren, and Emmitt J. Warren, and his three sisters, Viola Cary, Lizzie Artis, and Catherine Harris.

He leaves to cherish his memories of his wife of 54 years, Irene Warren, his two children, Lalita Pleashette Smith (Nathan, Sr.) and Johnny McCoy Warren Jr. (Stefanie); his four grandchildren, Dante (Dionshay), Nathan, Jr., Johnny, III, and Chloe'; his four great-grandchildren, Amaria, Chase, D'Andre and Yuri, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
