Johnny Willis Obituary
Johnny Murrell Willis, 65, passed away Friday, October 3, 2025 at his Bostwick residence following a brief illness.
He was a Putnam County native with lifelong ties to Bostwick, Florida. After graduating from Palatka High School, Johnny acquired skills needed to enter the telecom industry. He worked as a communications technician and was a longtime employee of Fisher Communications.
Johnny and best friend Ricky established the ""Willis King Band,"" performing live music in many venues throughout northeast Florida. In his leisure time, Johnny enjoyed drag racing and working on race cars. He loved animals and cooking. His grandchildren were very special to him. He was of the Baptist faith.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jimmy and Lola Willis; and a brother, James Joseph Willis.
Surviving are two sons and a daughter-in-law; John & Shawndra Willis and Jacob Rayne Willis; a daughter, Zara Willis; brother, Coy Willis; sister, Lisa Carman; five grandchildren, Taigh Tarbox, Addelyn Willis, Alicyn Willis, Atlas Allen, and Dahlia Allen; two great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be from 6–8 p.m. Friday, October 10, 2025 at Masters Funeral Home in Palatka. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 11 at the funeral home with Pastor Bill Williams officiating. Interment will follow in Bostwick Cemetery.

Johnny Willis was the second friend we made when we moved to St. Augustine. He became more like family to us. He was very much like a brother to me. I loved to tease him and could say anything to "Willis" as I called him, and he would let it roll off his back.. He was someone you could call in a pinch and he would show up. I have so many memories of him. I look forward to seeing him again in heaven!

You were the best husband and father, friend. I´ll always love you to the end of time. I didn´t get the chance to take you up on your offer to meet up and have a date with you.
