Joie Fuller Obituary
Joie Louise (Shuler) Fuller was born in Springfield on Aug. 29, 1944, to Henry and Francis (Vincent) Shuler. She grew up in Aldrich, where she attended elementary school prior to graduating from Fair Play High School in 1962.
Joie's greatest joy in life was her family. She was a loving mother, caring grandmother, and cherished friend to many. In 1965, she married Perry "Gene" Pitts, and their union brought into the world three children, Jeffrey, Jennifer, and Julie.
Later, Joie married Charles "Chuck" Hubbard, and their bond brought her son Nathan into the world. In her later years, she married Melvin "Butch" Fuller until his passing in 2016.
Joie was employed at Teter's Florist prior to moving to Springfield in 1968, where Joie began working for Ace Hardware and continued working for Ace in Bolivar until she retired.
Joie was an incredible woman of faith, always seeking to serve and grow closer to God. She attended various churches over the years, including Parkview Christian Church, Aldrich Methodist, and Zion Lutheran. She loved gardening, feeding the birds, sewing, caring for her dog Dakota, and playing cards and bingo with friends. Her home was a place of comfort, where she cherished moments with family and friends.
Joie's caring nature extended beyond her family. She was known for her honest, humorous, and loving spirit. Her knowledge about flowers, gardening, and fixing things was always there for the asking.
Her life portrayed love, honesty, and friendship. Joie's love for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren was endless, and she cherished every moment spent with them. Her legacy lives on in their hearts, as she continues to inspire love, kindness, and faith.
Joie was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Francis; her spouses, Gene, Chuck, and Butch. She leaves behind a family that will forever hold her close, her brothers Kenny (Linda) and Henry (Colleen); her children, Jeffrey (Kristin), Jennifer (Mike), Julie (Mark), and Nathan (Melina); her grandchildren Jacob, Jordan, Morgan, Riley, Faith, and Rayce; her great-grandchildren, Brantley, Gatlin, John III (Tres), Nolan, and Cooper; and many nieces, nephews, and friends who loved her dearly.
Her family's lives were brighter because of her love and laughter. Joie's spirit will live on in the hearts of all she touched, and she will be deeply missed but forever treasured as the heart of her family.
A visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 4, at Butler Funeral Home in Bolivar.
