Obituary

JoLena Kelley Myler

May 8, 1934 – August 10, 2025

JoLena Kelley Myler, age 91, of Pocatello, Idaho, passed away peacefully in Smithfield, Utah, on August 10, 2025. She was born on May 8, 1934, in Grace, Idaho, to Emma E. Byington Kelley and Clarence L. Kelley. JoLena was the youngest of seven children and is now reunited with her beloved husband, Kenneth Wendell Myler; her parents; all six siblings; and her great-grandson, Jacob Crane.

JoLena spent her early years on a farm near Lava, Idaho, where she attended grade school and junior high. She went on to attend Pocatello High School in Pocatello, Idaho, where she met the love of her life and eternal companion, Kenneth. They were married on June 20, 1951, in the Logan Utah Temple and shared 74 devoted years together.

JoLena had a deep love for the outdoors. As a young girl, she enjoyed riding her horse in the mountains near Lava-a place that always brought her peace and joy. She had a special fondness for hummingbirds, wildflowers, and roses, finding wonder in all of God's creations. She was an amazing cook and homemaker. She loved to sew, especially beautiful dresses and clothing for her five daughters.

A faithful and lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, JoLena served in various callings, including Primary, Mutual, and Relief Society. She was a devoted visiting teacher and, alongside Ken, served as an ordinance worker in the Idaho Falls Temple.

JoLena's greatest joy and most cherished role was within her family. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. Her legacy of love and service lives on through her children: Kathleen Warren (James) of West Haven, Utah; Vicky Peterson (Bryce) of Blackfoot, Idaho; Debbie Hawker (Bart) of Spring City, Utah; Janet Wendy Jones (Michael) of Pocatello, Idaho; Lorrie Ann Seamons (Jimmie) of Weston, Idaho; and James Kendall Myler of Pocatello, Idaho.

She leaves behind 25 grandchildren, 89 great-grandchildren, and 13 great-great-grandchildren-all of whom were blessed by her warm heart, homemade quilts, and comforting meals. JoLena's home and table were always open, and her kindness and service touched many beyond her family.

She will be remembered for her unwavering faith, her love of family, and her gentle strength. JoLena will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 16, 2025 at the Cedar Hills LDS Ward building, 5425 Bannock Highway in Pocatello, under direction of the Hawker Funeral Home. The family will meet with friends prior to the service, beginning at 9:30 a.m. Interment will follow in the Lava Hot Springs Cemetery.

The family would like to thank everyone at Birch Creek Assisted Living and Heather Pace, RN, for their exceptional and tender, loving care.
