Jon Gilbert Bangs

On Saturday, March 4, 2023, Jon Gilbert Bangs passed away at the age of 62 from a long battle with cancer. He was born in Jeffersonville, Indiana on May 9, 1960, to parents Jon T. Bangs and Dorothy Bangs who preceded him in death. Jon spent twenty years in the U.S. Navy as a Hospital Corpsman. He was very proud to be in the military. After his military career, he went on to have a successful career in Information Technology. He is survived by his spouse of 23 years, Mary Bangs. He is also survived by his 3 daughters, Elisabeth Hopson, Mary Hampton, and Tabitha Serrano, his son William Bangs, and stepson Kori Mulkey. He is survived by 7 (soon to be 8) grandchildren, Johnathan Hopson, Annalise Hopson, Brayden Hampton, Adelynn Hampton, Angelina Gibbs, Iliana Serrano, Daniella Serrano and arriving soon, Jon Elias Serrano. He was preceded in death by his brother, Mark Bangs, and survived by his brothers and sisters, Jeffery Bangs, James Bangs, Becky Brendel, Peggy Wilkins, Teresa Banks, Jill MacMeekin, and Millie Dehn. Jon enjoyed fitness and was known often urging others to do his month of pushup challenges, and for his strong Christian faith, often called a man of God. Towards the end of his battle with cancer, Jon gave his testimony in church saying, I'm no longer a believer I'm a knower, because I know that I know that God exists." This testimony lead Jon and his wife to begin a ministry to encourage others through their website where his wife writes a blog.
