Jon William Deering, age 87, passed away in the early morning hours of May 15th, 2025, after a long battle with
Alzheimer’s.
A graveside service will be held on June 14th at 11am at Oak Hill cemetery in Horicon.
Jon was born at home in Horicon, WI the son of Clarence and Erna (nee Weber) Deering on Saturday January 1st, 1938. He was a 1956 graduate of Horicon High School. He was united in marriage on September 4th, 1965, to Sharron Gadow at Zion Lutheran Church in Horicon.
Jon worked at Gardner Manufacturing in Horicon for many years. He had many passions. One of which was a great love of taking things apart and fixing them, from cars to appliances, he liked to find out what made things tic. Jon also had a love of riding motorcycles, which he and Sharron enjoyed together along with camping and trips to Disney world. Another joy for Jon was his love of different genres of music from Big Bands to 50’s+60’s, to polkas and he enjoyed dancing to them all. Finally, he enjoyed cheering on the Green Bay Packers and the Milwaukee Brewers.
Jon’s memory will live on through his family. He leaves behind his daughter Holly (Troy) Kolitz of Middleburg, FL. Two granddaughters; Kayla Kolitz of Orange Park, FL, and Schae (Alex) Koenig of Ruskin, FL. One grandson Tra Kolitz of Middleburg FL. Two great granddaughters Chasity and Ariana Kolitz. Two great grandsons Mason and Maverick Koenig. Brother-in-law Ray (Lois) Gadow Jr. of Mayville, WI. Sister-in-law Barbara Gadow of Rhinelander, WI. Brother-in-law Bud (Diane) Gadow of Kaukauna, WI. Sister-in-law Nadine Gadow of Tomah, WI. Nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Sharron, and sister Jeannine (Ronald) Schmidt.
