Jon Dix Obituary

Jon Richard Dix passed away on December 13, 2023 in Copperas Cove, Texas. Born on September 25, 1943 in Robinson, Illinois, Jon lived a remarkable life filled with unwavering dedication and an immense love for his family. Funeral Services will be held at Noon, December 22, 2023 at Sneed Carnley Funeral Chapel in Copperas Cove. Burial will follow at 2:00 pm, at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen, with full Military Honors. Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to the funeral service at the funeral home.

Jon is fondly remembered for his extensive career which spanned across different fields. He served in the United States Army for an admirable 22 years, where he achieved the rank of SFC-E7 and bravely served his country during the Vietnam War. After completing his military service, Jon continued to serve as a civil servant and as a realtor. His commitment to public service and unwavering work ethic were deeply respected by all who knew him.

While Jon was known for his professional achievements, those closest to him cherish the memories they shared together. Many recall the excitement that filled the air whenever Jon would put on his chef's hat and prepare his legendary chili. His culinary skills were truly unmatched and brought joy to family gatherings. In addition to cooking, Jon loved watching a variety of shows and sporting events with loved ones creating cherished moments that will be forever treasured.

Described as both smart and sarcastic by those who knew him best, Jon had an incredible wit that never failed to bring laughter to any room he entered. Always on the go and overflowing with energy, he approached life with determination and zest. But beyond his vibrant personality, it was Jon's caring nature that shone through most brightly. 

Jon's hobbies reflected his diverse interests. From passionately cheering on the Dallas Cowboys to immersing himself in the world of NASCAR and WWE wrestling, he embraced these pastimes with enthusiasm. In quieter moments, he enjoyed solving crossword puzzles while indulging in his favorite sweets, finding solace and enjoyment in these simple pleasures.

Jon will be deeply missed by his surviving family and friends. He is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Barbara, who stood by his side throughout their journey together. His sister Sandy held a special place in his heart, as did his children Dorena (Bobby), Tonya (Darryl), Vanessa (Sam), Melissa, Lance "Rocky", Donald, and James "Jim" (Amber). Jon was also a proud grandfather to 17 grandchildren and a great-grandfather to six little ones who brought immense joy to his life. He leaves behind several nieces and nephews who will forever remember him as an inspiration.

Jon may no longer be with us physically, but his spirit will forever remain within our hearts. As we reflect upon the extraordinary life he led may we find solace in the knowledge that he touched the lives of many and left an indelible mark on the world around him.
