Jon Leroy Kindell

Jon Leroy Kindell, age 78, born November 28, 1946, passed away on August 26, 2025. He passed peacefully in his sleep at his home in Morehead, KY.

Jon graduated from Morehead State University with a degree in geology. A generous and astonishingly intelligent man, he worked in a variety of occupations over the years. After joining the Marines as a young man, Jon worked as an aircraft mechanic in Japan during the Vietnam War. He served for 10 years and retired as a Sergeant. Jon later worked in radio and as an oil rig geologist.

He retired from the postal service, a job that he really loved. He enjoyed getting to know the people on his postal routes as well as their pets, and took pride in his skills as a driver.

Jon loved game shows and sports. He was a University of Kentucky basketball fan and watched Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune every chance he got. He also loved golfing, photography, bird watching and making stained glass. He was an excellent cook and his home was always filled with happy, thriving plants and lots of books.

Jon was preceded in death by his wife Brenda and his mother Dee.

He is survived by his daughters Gabrielle and Heather, his sister Jackie, his granddaughter Mariam, and several cherished nieces.

A Celebration of Life will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, September 28, 2025, at the Cave Run Dam Tailwater Recreation Area, 150 KY Hwy 826, Morehead, KY 40351.

Jon made regular donations to local charities, so in lieu of flowers please consider making a donation in his honor to your favorite soup kitchen, bird rescue or other charity that makes you think of him.

Arrangements are under the direction of Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY 40351.
