Jonathan Antelope, 37, of Lake Andes
Jonathan died Wednesday, August 23, 2023 at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls. Funeral services will be 1 PM, Monday, August 28, 2023 at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Lake Andes. Burial is in the Holy Fellowship Episcopal Cemetery, rural Greenwood. Wake services will begin Friday at the White Swan Community Center in Lake Andes.
Jonathan James Antelope born May 18, 1986 in Yankton, SD to Lydia Rosalind (Blaine) Weston & the late Darrell Wayne Antelope. Jonathan grew up in the White Swan Community in Lake Andes, SD. As a young child he loved to watch the TMNT, Jurassic Park, Batman, play baseball with the East LA Lil Warriors, collect snakes and turtles, and any other insects he could keep in his pockets. He had a great love for animals, he was a big dog lover! Over the 37 blessed years he had breeds from Dalmatian, husky, to his & his little brother Kalem's late old English bulldog "Adolf" to his dear chihuahua "Buck" who would lay right next to him to protect him at all times.
Jonathan attended Andes Central since elementary & graduated the Class of 2005. After high school Jonathan was employed at the Fort Randall Casino Restaurant department as a dishwasher. He loved to work and collect DVDs, he cherished his hat collection which consisted of LA Raiders, NY Yankees, Chicago Bulls and the Boston Celtics (for luck when going to do his "Bonus bucks at the Caseen!") Some of his favorite things to do were to go for a cruise, play 654 with the boys & come home with all the winnings, watch the sitcom "Mom." His favorite movies such as Forrest Gump, Marley, when for a good wake-up movie "28 Days" he called it! He always had a joke for whoever was around, he shared how he always wanted to make people laugh & smile!
On April 12, 2015, Jonathan welcomed into the world his twins Noah James & Nevaeh Jade, who he proudly raised with his Ina Lydia and family. He loved being a father, we got to witness precious moments especially like creating his first ponytail for his daughter Nevaeh's hair or helping his son Noah complete the difficult parts for the playstation game. He loved to watch his daughter dance jingle at the local wacipis and was looking forward to their upcoming school year. May Creator forever hold them close & his memory in their hearts.
Jonathan is survived by his children Neveah Jade & Noah James; mother & father Lydia & Eric Weston; sisters Nichole (Kenneth) Smart, DeRae (Roy) Wade, Kayley Blaine; brothers: Kalem & Travis Blaine, Ronald Patterson III; nieces and nephews; Annaleigha, Fabian, Zacarias Antelope and Kieran and Khalan Smart and many others along with many cousins, aunts, uncles, and Uni Ella, Charlene, and Shirley.
Jonathan is preceded in death by his late father Darrell Wayne Antelope; Grandparents: Forrest & Catherine (Powers) Antelope and Chauncey & Marjorie (Huapapi) Blaine; uncles: Chauncey & Cletus Blaine and Gary Gilbert & Edward Antelope; Nieces & Nephews: Khailer & Kayne Smart; cousins: Ashley & Angel Blaine, Raine Blaine, and Emilee Antelope.
