Jonathan Ashworth Obituary

Published by Legacy from Jul. 17 to Jul. 30, 2025.
My dear husband, our son, brother, and friend, Jon Ashworth, left his earthly wings behind for a heavenly pair on July 15, 2025. Reaching the age of 23 years. His tragic passing was the result of an auto accident while responding to a medical emergency.
He was born, Jonathan Alex Ashworth, at Mercy Hospital in Moundridge, Kansas, on August 3, 2001, but friends lovingly referred to him as Jon or Jace.
He moved to Deridder, Louisiana, with his family on November 10, 2003.
Jon gave his heart to the Lord and was baptized along with his brother Landan on June 21, 2015. Jon drew closer to the Lord during his preparatory class; his soft spirit left a lasting impression. His commitment to serving the Lord was evident in his diligent determination to serve Him.
He married the love of his life on June 9, 2024, in Perrinton, Michigan, creating a lifetime of memories in one brief year.
One outstanding physical characteristic of Jon was his huge hands. Oftentimes, a closed fist is used to represent the size of our heart. So Jon just naturally had to have huge hands. When Jon loved, he loved with his whole heart. His easy-going, laid-back personality won the affection of everyone he encountered. His distinct southern drawl and easy smile added to his irresistible personality. Without asserting himself as the center of attention, he could bring life and vibrancy to any gathering. He willingly gave of himself to his friends and strangers alike, often going out of his way to help ease others' burdens. We feel the following verse portrays His passion and purpose in life to serve others. "And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me." Matthew 25:40 He lived life exuberantly and didn't know when to quit or say no.
Apart from serving the Lord, Jon's second greatest fulfillment was his service to the community through dedication to the Beauregard Parish Fire District 4
Some of the unique and quirky sayings he loved to use that always brought a smile was: "I have 80 of them HD's and can't listen to one of them", "full send", if you asked him what he was doing "oh jus easin along" or, "got my knees in the breeze" and, "Jus ridin n glidin"
Those left to cherish his memory are his best friend and wife Tabitha Ashworth; parents, Bryan and Cheryl Ashworth; brother "bro" and best friend, Landan Ashworth "WeeWee" and wife Megan, sister "sis" Ash Classen and husband Kelly; best friend and brother, Collin Kaufmann; a very special lil' sis Mandy Harms; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Matthew and Michelle Underwood; paternal grandmother, Kathy Ashworth; maternal grandparents, Allen and Rowena Koehn; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Oak and Sharon Underwood, Bregje Underwood, Caelan Underwood; grandfather-in-law, Wayne and Denise Underwood, grandmother-in-law Peggy Underwood; nephew, Seth Underwood. He enjoyed his warm reception into the Alvin Litwiller family. Two employers that were close to his heart were Ale, Kara, and girls; Mitch, Val, and children. He had many, many others that he welcomed into his life as family.
All who knew him are now missing a chunk of their heart that they will never get back.
Love is patient, love is kind, it is not jealous; love does not brag, it is not arrogant. 1 Corinthians 13:4 NASB
If I had known the last time I saw you would be the last time I saw you, I would have shouted out I love you, hugged you tightly, and told you how much having you in my world brightened it. I will always love and miss you, and I regret not doing the things I would have if only I had known.
Family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m., Saturday, July 19, 2025, with the funeral service being held at 10:30 a.m., Sunday, July 20, 2025, at Southern Magnolia Mennonite Church, DeRidder, Louisiana. Interment to follow at Southern Magnolia Mennonite Cemetery, DeRidder, Louisiana.
