Jonathan W. Buist

Jonathan W. Buist was born on August 14, 1973, at Chilton Memorial Hospital in Pequannock, NJ.
Jonathan grew up in Jefferson Township NJ (J-Town) and attended Jefferson Township High School. He also spent his childhood summers at the Jersey Shore in Manasquan swimming and boogie-boarding the days away. He was a licensed heavy equipment operator and carpenter by trade.
Jonathan, aka "The Kid," had a unique, charismatic personality and was inclined to laugh and have loads of fun. As a child and young adult, he was a compassionate and loyal brother and friend. He was known for making up amusing phrases and engaging in hilarious and quirky escapades. He was extremely creative and funny, always ready to tell a joke or make light of a situation.
Jonathan liked watching sports and held Jets season tickets back in the day, He was a die-hard Jets fan and attended many games with his brother Jason. He enjoyed skiing and became a self-proclaimed instant expert on his first run. He also partook in surfing and dubbed himself the Modern Day Savage of Riddle Way. Jonathan was particularly fond of music, and his favorite groups were the Beatles, Traveling Wilburys, and the Grateful Dead. Even through the hard times in the later part of his life, his compassion for others less fortunate never ceased. His funny and lighthearted personality from his more youthful days will be fondly remembered and sorely missed.
Jonathan is survived by his siblings Jason Buist, Nicole Rossi, and Chandra Hertel, and nephews Nicholas, Keegan, Donovan, Marius, and Francesco. He is predeceased by his parents Arthur Garfield Buist and Noelle Keegan Buist.
A memorial gathering will be held for family and friends on April 27 from 1-4 pm at The Renaissance, 1110 NJ-35, Ocean Township, NJ 07712. Please contact Jonathan's family for more information.
