Jonathan "Jon" Graves, 35, of Brighton, Michigan, passed away on November 16, 2025, surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with cancer. Jon was born on October 25, 1990, alongside his twin brother Joe Graves, to loving parents Greg and Callie Graves. Jon lived a life defined by strength, loyalty, adventure, and deep devotion to the people he loved. Jon met and married the love of his life, Carolyn, and together they built a beautiful life centered around their son, Ranger, who was Jon's greatest joy and proudest accomplishment.
Jon graduated from Hartland High School in 2009 and went on to earn his Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from Michigan Technological University in 2014. A dedicated and hardworking professional, Jon spent over 10 years at Ford Motor Company, where he was admired for his strong vision, work ethic, and problem-solving mindset. Those who had the privilege of working with Jon knew him as one of the best and brightest engineers and leaders, always striving to find solutions to make Ford better.
An avid outdoorsman, Jon was most at peace with a fishing rod in his hand or exploring the woods during hunting seasons. His competitive spirit and unmatched determination led him to train for and complete races such as an Ultramarathon, Ironman and Tough Mudder - achievements that spoke to his grit and tenacity. A man of many talents and interests, Jon was a gifted musician and lead singer in multiple bands. He held a real estate license, completed pilot training, and co-founded his own company, Loxley Bowfishing. He also enjoyed harvesting maple syrup in Manistee each spring and cheering on the Detroit Lions with family and friends.
Jon will be remembered for his boundless curiosity, passion, and natural leadership. He was a devoted husband, father, son, brother, and friend-known by many as the finest man they had ever met. Loyal, charismatic, and kind hearted, Jon touched the lives of everyone who knew him and he inspired others simply by the way he lived. His legacy lives on in his family, especially in Ranger, who carries his father's spirit, humor, and curiosity.
Jon is survived by his wife Carolyn and their son Ranger; his parents Greg and Callie Graves; his siblings, twin brother Joe (Riley) and sister Tori (Alex). He is also survived by his grandfather and many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, family, numerous friends, and some of his closest college buddies who were like brothers to him.
Visitation will take place on Tuesday, December 9th from 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM, and Wednesday, December 10th from 1:00 PM - 7:00 PM at Lynch and Sons Funeral Home in Milford, Michigan. A prayer service will take place on Wednesday at 6:30 PM. Funeral Mass will take place on Thursday, December 11th at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church in Brighton at 11:00 AM. Gathering of family and friends will begin at 10:00 AM.
In loving memory of Jon and in lieu of flowers, a fund will be established to support Ranger's future education. Link found below: https://donorbox.org/ranger-graves-custodial-fund-ugma
