Jonathan Daniel Hammond, 45, of Bellefontaine, passed away unexpectedly at 12:16 p.m. on Thursday, December 18, 2025, at Mary Rutan Hospital. He was born in Kenton, Ohio on July 8, 1980, to the late John Humphries Hammond and Shirley (Norton) Hammond, who survives.
Daniel is also survived by his daughters, Mia and Leila Hammond; stepdaughter, Aryana Lane; 3 step-grandchildren; brother, Matthew (Luella) Hammond; niece and nephew, Lisa and Arthur "AJ" Hammond.
Along with his father, Daniel was preceded in death by his twin brother, Christopher Hammond.
Daniel graduated from Bellefontaine High School and earned his bachelor's degree from ITT Tech. He served as a veteran in the U.S. Army for 7 years, completing 4 tours in Iraq, Iran, and South Korea. Daniel enjoyed playing basketball, football, and soccer, and loved riding horses. He also enjoyed shooting guns and regularly attended concerts.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Calvary Baptist Church, 1140 Rush Avenue, Bellefontaine. Pastor Jeffory Willetts will officiate a memorial service beginning at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, at the church, where military rites will be provided by the Logan County Veterans Honor Guard.
Memorial contributions may be made to the family in care of Eichholtz & Daring Funeral Home & Cremation Center or Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758516, Topeka, Kansas 66675-8516.
