Jonathan Van "JV" Kennedy, age 54, of LaGrange, passed away on October 26, 2025. He was born on March 4, 1971, in Columbus, Georgia, to Patricia Arrant Kennedy and the late Scott Kennedy.
JV proudly served as a Sergeant in the Civil Division of the Troup County Sheriff's Office. Prior to serving with the Troup County Sheriff's Office, JV was a Training Officer and Corporal with the LaGrange Police Department. He dedicated his life to law enforcement and serving his community. In his early years, JV worked with Stewart Harvard at Marengo Farms, which led to a lifelong love of training dogs.
He was an avid Auburn fan who wouldn't miss a game for anything. JV also enjoyed NASCAR and was a collector of NASCAR die-cast cars. He loved everything outdoors - hunting turkey, ducks, and deer, as well as fishing. He especially enjoyed grilling and smoking barbecue on game days. JV and Karen loved living on West Point Lake and spending time on the water with their family and friends.
In addition to his mother, survivors include his wife, Karen Armstrong Kennedy; daughter, Abbie Kennedy Milliman (Hunter); stepchildren, Sarah Pauley (Will), Anna Jackson (Colson), Emma King (Lewis), and Jimmie Jackson; grandchildren, Anders Milliman, Blake Milliman, and Hadleigh King; sister, Kristin Kennedy (Wendy); brother, Matthew Kennedy; father and mother-in-law, Mike and Connie Armstrong; and his beloved canine companions, Kori and Sage. He is also survived by numerous extended family members and friends.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Helen Arrant, Margie Kennedy, and Alvin Kennedy.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 30, 2025, from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Higgins Funeral Home at Hunter-Allen-Myhand. A memorial service will follow at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel.
Please keep the family in your thoughts and prayers during this challenging time.
