Jonathan David McWhirter

Jonathan David McWhirter, age 53, of Knoxville, TN, passed away on Monday, May 12, 2025. He was preceded in death by his father, Ken; his grandparents, Jack and Mildred Coode (of Nashville, TN), David and Virginia McWhirter (of Knoxville). He is survived by his devoted mother, Ellen; sister, Grace (Neil) Lawley; nieces, Cara (Evan) Pohler, and Rose Lawley; nephew, Luke McWhirter Lawley; great nephew, Owen Pohler; multiple aunts, uncles, and cousins. Jon attended school at St. Joseph Elementary and Central High School. He will be remembered for his love of music, anything Irish, and his sense of humor. We will gather together to celebrate Jon at the 12:10pm daily Mass at Immaculate Conception Church (414 W. Vine Ave. Knoxville, TN 37902) on Monday, May 19, 2025. He will be interred at Calvary Cemetery in Nashville, TN, at a later date. The family would like to thank all the friends of Jon who loved him unconditionally, as well as the owners and staff at Sweet P's Uptown Corner, and the staff at the Neuro ICU at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center.
