Jonathan Paul Morton, age 41 of Murfreesboro, TN passed away on Thursday June 6, 2024 at Ascension Saint Thomas Rutherford.
Jonathan is preceded in death by grandparents, Paul and Lucille Morton, John and Marie Eden; and Uncle Donnie Morton.
Jonathan is survived by wife, Dawn Drummonds; son, Hayden Morton; Parents, John and Connie Skorik, Ricky and Andrea Morton; siblings, Bradley Morton(Sarah), Krista Morton(Mark), Stephanie Harris(Jacob), Jacob Skorik(April), Kelly Morton, Katie Morton, Kendal Morton, Kerry Morton, in Laws Darthur and Connie Drummonds, and Dana Drummonds; several aunts, uncles and cousins; and 19 nieces and nephews.
Jonathan was born in San Antonio, Texas, on October 5, 1982. He was a man of many talents, but what he loved the most was being the father of his son Hayden. One of the many things Jonathan enjoyed was baseball. He played ball growing up through high school and shared his love of baseball with Hayden. After his ball career ended, he enjoyed being able to continue watching Hayden play over the years. When Jonathan wasn't at the ball field he would have most likely been doing something outdoors. He was a country boy at heart. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and shared the love of those things with his son as well. Another passion of his included playing golf. He was always ready to partner with Uncle Larry and friends for a quick tournament. Jonathan had a creative artistic side outside of baseball and the outdoors. Part of that creative side was graphic design and art. He was such a great artist on the computer and paper. God also blessed him with a fantastic talent for singing and songwriting, with his favorite genre of music being country. He always had his acoustic guitar ready to entertain. Jonathan honestly had one of the most prominent personalities anyone could have and would light up the room as soon as he entered it. Jonathan had so many family members and friends that he loved dearly and would do anything for, and he will be missed deeply, but his legacy and memory will continue on.
The family will receive friends for a celebration of life gathering Saturday, June 15, 2024 1pm – 3pm at the Church of God, 2011 St. James St. Murfreesboro, TN 37128.
