Jonathan Murray Peet

With great sadness we announce the unexpected passing of Jonathan Murray Peet (Jon Peet, Cuda, Koot, JP, Jonny Pop, BaPa, Coach) on Saturday January 17, 2026.

Jon is survived by his wife, Celia Georgiades, his children, Alyson Dalton (Chris), Rachel Peet, Corey Herron (Jillian), and Jared Herron. His siblings, Molly Peet (Rich Hargis), Ellen Walker (Derek), Stiles Peet (Barbara) and Deborah Riplinger (Ken); his ten grandchildren: Caroline, Crew, Amelia, Lyla, Marlena, Asher, Serena, Kieran, Saria, and Rhys.

He is preceded in death by his parents Mr. Edwin F. and Mary E. Peet, and brother Steven Peet.

Jon was born on January 23, 1954, in Summit, New Jersey. In 1971, he moved to Stuart, Florida and finished high school at Martin County High 74'. He attended the University of South Florida and graduated with a degree in Economics in 1977. He then moved to Tallahassee in 1979 where he obtained a Masters in Business Administration and Bachelor's in Accounting from Florida State University. He became a Certified Public Accountant in 1993 and after 30 years he retired from the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation. He was largely responsible for developing Florida's complex Condominium and Time Share Regulations still in force today. After his career in government, he opened a consulting practice in Florida Condominium Law.

Jon was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother; a great scholar, mentor, and coach. He married Celia in 1990 and shared 35 years of soccer games, music, beach trips, and raising children and grandchildren together. His love for soccer took him from playing, to becoming a coach for the FSU women's club soccer team and youth soccer between 1980 and 2000. He was an avid reader, coin collector, serious board gamer, exceptional chess player, and he loved his Wednesday-night poker with his buddies.

He will be greatly missed by all that knew him.

A celebration of Jon's life will be held April 10, 2026, at The Retreat at Bradley's Pond, 9002 Bradley Road, Tallahassee, from 4 – 7 p.m.
