Jonathan David Reid, known to most as Jon, of Holly Pond, Alabama, passed away on Friday, January 16, 2026, at the age of 58.
As a youngster, Jon enjoyed the outdoors. He and his family loved to hike, camp, and backpack together. After graduating high school, Jon attended Auburn University where he made many lasting friendships before obtaining his degree from Opelika State Technical College. After graduation, Jon worked as a diagnostic tech in the automotive industry.
Jon’s love for people was evident in the friendships he made, and his servant heart was seen in the way he cared for those around him. Jon was quick to lend a hand to anyone who needed help. His positive outlook on life was contagious and people enjoyed being around him. Jon leaves a legacy of kindness and love that will be remembered by all who knew him.
Jon is preceded in death by his father, Walter Lee Reid; infant sister, Belinda Ann Reid; paternal grandparents, Curtis and Mary Sumners Reid; and maternal grandparents, Wiley and Brooxie Lovell Gilley.
Those surviving Jon include his mother, Linda Gilley Reid; brother, Dan Reid (Jolie); niece, Sadie Grace Reid; nephew, Jon Carter Reid; a host of extended family; and many dear friends.
Friends are invited to join the family for a time of visitation on Saturday afternoon, January 31, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., at Brooklyn Church. A memorial service will follow visitation, beginning at 2:00 p.m.
