Jonathan Ritchey Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Smith Family Funeral & Crematory Services, LLC - Murfreesboro on Aug. 22, 2024.
Jonathan "Geoff" Ritchey entered heaven on August 10, 2024 at American House Assisted Living in Murfreesboro, TN following a long fight with Metastatic Prostate Cancer.
Geoff was born October 18, 1961 to Leonard and Jeanne (Hawke) Ritchey in Altoona, PA. He graduated from Rocky Grove High School in 1979 and began working at Shaffer Trucking in the early 80s where he remained until he retired in May of this year. Geoff was a friend to all and loved for his generous nature and dry, witty humor. He loved hunting, woodworking, and, most of all, time with his best boy, Murphy, an English Springer Spaniel he adopted in 2021 when he moved from Boiling Springs, PA to Murfreesboro, TN.
Geoff is survived by many friends and family members, including daughter Rochelle (Ritchey) Kennedy and her husband, Micah; son Hunter Ritchey; four grandchildren Liam, Aisley, Jovie, and Levi; sister Leslie Dietz; niece Abby Dietz; best friend of more than 40 years Kyle Ward; and neighbors Penny Shaw and Bill and Pam Hackett who were of great help and comfort to him in his final months; as well as many friends from Shaffer, Pennsylvania, and Nebraska.
Geoff was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Jeanne Ritchey and siblings Calvin Ritchey, Brian Ritchey, and Betsy (Ritchey) Allen.
In lieu of services, the family requests that you spend time with family in nature as Geoff often loved doing.

My Uncle Geoff was my favorite Uncle, and I was his favorite nice, as I was his very first. My Uncle Geoff often was generous with me during my youth, often giving me gift cards to Book stores to further my passion for reading. My Uncle Geoff was kind, generous, and sarcastically funny. Our family grew apart after grandma passed away, and there was no longer a central home to meet at, as it was destroyed, but I still kept in contact via Facebook, and I'm sad that I'm just now finding out.
