Jonathan Montgomery Rood, age 73 of Springfield, died Sunday, March 14, 2010 at NorthCrest Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, March 19, 2010 at 3:00 pm in the Oakhurst Chapel of Robertson County Funeral Home with Re. Jerry Ross and Rev. Bob Carroll officiating. Interment will follow in Robertson County Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the Robertson County Funeral Home on Thursday from 4 until 8 pm and Friday from 1 pm until the hour of service. Mr. Rood was born April 26, 1936 in Huntington, WV to the late Rev. Perry V. and Lillie Ann Shaver Rood. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Jessica Lace Fort, and eleven brothers and sisters. He was veteran of the United States Army and was a member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans and the United Rubber Workers. He retired as an inspector with Gates Rubber Company and Armstrong Tires and was of the Baptist faith. He is survived by his wife, Faith Rood of Springfield; son and daughter-in-law, J. Marlin and Kathy Rood of Springfield; daughter and son-in-law, Crystalee and Tommy Hoge of Springfield; grandchildren, Anna Alicia Fort and Jenni and Rachael Hoge; brother and sister-in-law, Rev. Ferrell and Nancy Rood of Zaliski, OH; and sister, Dorothy Ann Rood of Zaliski, OH.
The family request memorial contributions be made to the Gideon’s International. All donations can be sent c/o Robertson County Funeral Home.
