It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Jonathan Shearer, a devoted father, husband, and friend, who left this world on September 20, 2024, at the age of 54. His life was defined by his unwavering love for his family. Jonathan was the husband of Leanne Shearer whom he shared 19 years of marriage. Together, they built a home filled with love, laughter, and countless beautiful memories. As a father to Kelly Lee, Emma Piazza, and Eden Shearer, Jonathan was a constant source of support, encouragement, and unconditional love. His family was his pride and joy, and he lived every day for their happiness and well-being.
As the owner of Anytime Fitness in Prescott Valley and Chino Valley, AZ, Jonathan was a fixture in the fitness world, guiding countless individuals on their journey to health and wellness. The gym was not just a place to work out—it was a community, a space where everyone felt welcomed, supported, and inspired to push beyond their limits. Jonathan’s dedication to helping others live healthier lives had a lasting impact on all who passed through the doors. His booming, contagious laughter could be heard throughout the building, a sound that brought smiles to everyone around.
Outside of the gym, Jonathan was a talented and dedicated artist, whose work captured the essence of his personality—comedic, bold, playful, and heroic. Whether painting, sculpting, or experimenting with another medium, he brought the same discipline and passion to art as he did to fitness. His work reached far and wide, with his pieces featured by Marvel, local businesses, and in the newspaper, leaving a lasting impact on all who experienced them.
Those who knew Jonathan will remember him not just for his accomplishments, but for his spirit. He had an infectious energy, a kind heart, and a drive that inspired others to be the best version of themselves. Jonathan leaves behind a legacy of hard work, creativity, and a deep love for the community he built.
Jonathan is survived by his wife, Leanne Shearer, his children, Kelly (Ryan) Lee, Emma (Jacob) Piazza, Eden Shearer, and Granddaughters Johny and Maizy Lee. Siblings Kim (Steve) Irwin, Beverly (Mark) Taylor, Mary Beth (Mal) Stevens, Nathan Shearer, and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents, William Dean Shearer, Olia (Hopkins) Shearer, brother-in-law Malvern Stevens and nephew, Steven Matthew Irwin.
A celebration of life will be held on October 26th, 11 am at Anytime Fitness in Prescott Valley, AZ, where those whose lives Jonathan touched can come together to celebrate a life lived fully and with passion.
