Jonathan Matthew Sloderbeck, affectionately known as Jon, was born on September 13, 1991, in North Kansas City. He departed this life on December 8, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love, adventure, and cherished memories.

A proud graduate of North Kansas City High School, Jon pursued his passion for math and earned a Bachelor of Arts in Accounting from the University of Missouri-Kansas City, where he founded the Chi Nu chapter of the Alpha Kappa Psi professional fraternity. During and after college, he worked as the Store Manager at Temple Slug and later joined Accord Group as a Staff Accountant. There, he was valued for his diligence and expertise by his colleagues, who both respected him and enjoyed his friendship.

Jon possessed a quiet strength and a gentle spirit, touched by a profound love for life that inspired those around him. He was a curious and adventurous soul who sought to experience the beauty of architecture and cultures across the globe, visiting over 20 countries. He had a keen appreciation for museums, art, music, and often found joy in enjoying a botanical garden during golden hour – if he wasn’t diligently rating a new craft beer or spending time with his cherished cat, Sasha. He was a season ticket holder for the Kansas City Current women’s soccer team since their inception, traveling to games and attending events with fellow supporters. Jon enjoyed all types of gaming, from board games and Dungeons & Dragons to video games, especially racing simulators. His annual trips to the Sundance Film Festival nurtured his passion for all types of film. His taste in music ranged from jazz to hardstyle electronic dance music; and he loved playing the keyboard ever since starting piano lessons at a young age.

To everyone who knew him, he was a friend, a confidant, and a beloved family member. His reflective spirit and zest for life will be deeply missed by all of whom hold onto the treasured moments shared with him.

Jon is survived by his father, Michael (Melody) Sloderbeck; brothers, Jason (Bethany) Sloderbeck, Michael (Angila) Hjermstad; bonus siblings, Lindsay (Jonathan) Stafford, Tyler Porter, Abbey (Bryce) Schafer; nieces and nephews, extended family and dear friends. He is preceded in death by his mother, Diana Sloderbeck.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate his life at Speaks Suburban Chapel located at 18020 East 39th St S, Independence, Missouri 64055. Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 15, 2024, from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM, followed by a memorial service starting at 10:00 AM. It is a time to reminisce about the joy Jon brought into our lives and to honor the impactful journey he embarked on during his time with us.

As we gather to remember Jonathan, we carry with us the lessons he imparted through his kindness, creativity, and enthusiasm for life. Though he has left this world, his spirit will continue to live on in the stories we share and the love we hold for him in our hearts.
