Joyce Blevins Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Cremation Center of Kansas City - Shawnee Mission on Mar. 31, 2026.
Joyce Frances Blevins of Basehor, Kansas, went to be with the Lord on March 28, 2026. She was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister.

Joyce was born to Paul and Dorothy Wrigley in Birmingham, Missouri, on February 8, 1941. She graduated from North Kansas City High School in 1958. She met William Sherman Blevins in June of 1960 and were married one year later on June 17, 1961.

Sherman and Joyce settled in Kansas City, Missouri. They lived in Kearney, Missouri for 15 years before moving to Shawnee, Kansas, in 1988. They then lived in Branson, Missouri, for 13 years and recently moved to Basehor, Kansas, in 2025.

A woman of deep faith, Joyce loved the Lord and lived her life as a reflection of His grace. She was a member of Nashua Assembly of God, where she was a song leader and writer for the Heavenly Harmoniers alongside her husband, mother, brother, and sister-in-law. One of her favorite chapters in the Bible was Psalm 91, and she found great comfort in her relationship with Jesus.

Joyce was known for her generosity, faith, and servant-minded spirit. She loved baking, sewing, singing, serving, and she especially cherished time spent with her family. She was drawn to children, and they to her. Her home was a place of warmth, laughter, and Jesus, and she made everyone feel loved and welcome.

She is survived by her husband of 64 years, William Sherman Blevins, and her children, Rebekah Blevins, Daniel Blevins (Lorie), and Stephen Blevins (Olinka). She has 4 beloved grandchildren: Taylore Weitner (Aaron), Carley Creel (Drew), Joyce Blevins, Caleb Blevins, and 5 great-grandchildren (Everley, Beau, Jack, Owen, and Banner). She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Dorothy Wrigley, her brother James Wrigley, and her sister Jeanette Cavazos.
