Bristol, TN – Jonathan Randall Woods, age 69, passed away on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, in Johnson City Medical Center. Jonathan was a graduate of Grundy High School and lived most of his life in Buchanan County until moving to Bristol, TN in 2020. He was a former employee of United Coal Company, Coca-Cola Bottling Company, Apex Energy, and co-owner/operator at Childress Furniture Company.
Jon knew no stranger. He was the very definition of a big kid at heart. He loved to make others laugh and brought joy to anyone he met. If anyone needed a hand, he was there to help, no questions asked. Nothing brought him more happiness than spending time on the lake with his family; times filled with love and laughter. Jon’s memory will live on forever in his beloved family, especially his cherished granddaughters.
He was preceded in death by his father, Charlie Muncy Woods. Jon is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Debbie Childress Woods; two sons, Ryan Woods and wife Wendy, and Brandon Woods and wife Molly; mother, Betty Thornbury Woods; loving granddaughters, Brynlee and Presley Woods; sister, Charlotte Cochran and husband Zach; and several cherished nieces and nephews.
Visitation with the family will be held 1:00 p.m. – 2:30 p.m. Sunday, December 21, 2025, in the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. at the funeral home with Minister Mike Rife officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain View Methodist Church Cemetery with Stephen Childress, Anthony Childress, Trey Childress, Samuel Childress, Luke Childress, Nathanael Cochran, Zachary Cochran, and Ronnie Prater serving as pallbearers.
