Jonell Carroll, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, went home to be with the Lord on October 29, 2025, at the age of 93. She lived a long and beautiful life marked by love, faith, and devotion to her family.
Jonell was born October 23, 1932, in Dickens, Texas to Angie Bernice Springer and Jackie "J.C." Chastain Ashby. She graduated from Denton High School in 1950 and began working at the Campus Theater while attending North Texas State University. During that time, she started dating Charlie "Bo" Carroll, who became the love of her life. The two were married in 1953 and shared 36 wonderful years together.
Jonell and Bo began their family in 1955, and she gracefully balanced her roles as a homemaker and administrative secretary. She worked for Vita Craft until 1964, then opened her home to provide childcare for several years. In 1974, she began what became her final and most meaningful career at Victor Equipment Company, where she developed many lifelong friendships that continued long after her retirement in 1999.
In 1989, Jonell faced the heartbreaking loss of her beloved Bo to a sudden heart attack. Though deeply affected, she drew strength from her faith, her family, and her circle of close friends. She cherished lunch gatherings with her Victor coworkers and traveling with her Sunday School class, finding joy and fellowship in every season of life.
After a fall in 2019, Jonell's activities became more limited, but she was blessed with loving in-home caregivers who cared for her with great compassion and friendship during her final years.
Jonell was a devoted grandmother who poured her heart into her family. Though she faced the challenges of grandparenting alone, she did so with grace, warmth, and unwavering love. Her greatest legacy is that all of her children and grandchildren know and love Jesus.
Jonell was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Charles "Bo" Edward Carroll; her parents, J.C. and Bernice Ashby; and her siblings, Jack Ashby, Jan Cole, and Rick Ashby.
She is survived by her children Ronny Carroll (Candice), Diane Watts (Nolan), David Carroll (LaDonna), and Teresa Ledlow (Jason); grandchildren Kristen Carroll, Cassie Towne (Aaron), Erin Alvarez (Ben), Lauren Sanders (Scott), Ryan Watts (Loressa), Rebekah Johnson (Adam), Rachel Caver (Chris), Reagan Moore (Gregg), Jonathan Carroll (Sarah), Morgan Hughes (Jordan), Austin Ledlow (Layah), and Jackson Ledlow. Jonell was blessed with 28 great-grandchildren who brought her immense joy and pride.
Jonell will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her quiet strength, and the love she so freely gave to everyone who knew her. Her life was a testimony of faith, kindness, and devotion-an example her family will cherish forever.
A visitation for Jonell will be held 1:30 - 2:30PM, Friday, November 7, 2025, at Midway Church in Pilot Point, TX. A funeral service at the church will be held at 2:30 PM, Friday, November 7, 2025, with Rev. John Theisen officiating. Burial will follow the service at Belew Cemetery in Pilot Point, TX.
