A cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, Jorge left this world from the comfort of his home in Kyle, Texas on Monday, June 17, 2024, at the age of 63. He is survived by his loving wife, Yolanda Farias; his children, Lillian (Bradley), Samuel (Alison), and Isaac; his grandchildren, Calvin, Daniel, Scarlett, Lavender, and soon-to-come baby boy; and his siblings, Virginia Corpus, Dennis Farias (Yvonne), Matiana Billman (Roy), Aurora Melendes, Oralia Lovelace, and Ruby Farias (Lance). He was preceded in death by his parents, Andres and Gregoria Farias; and by his siblings, Victor Farias (Lourdes), Alicia Layton (Ted), Andrea Zaragoza (Joe), and Alfredo Farias.
Born on April 6, 1961, in Elsa, Texas, Jorge's youth was marked by equal parts curiosity, joviality, and antics. He spent his younger days bickering with Ruby, playing in the alley with Fred and Dennis, reading encyclopedias with his cousin Victor, and picking (and bruising) apples in the orchard during picking season.
He attended Pan American University where he met his beautiful wife, Yolanda, and obtained a degree that led to a long, fulfilling career as a civil CAD designer. Though a hard worker, Jorge always brought his same infectious sense of humor to the workplace, where he made many lasting friendships.
Jorge and Yolanda married on April 6, 1985 and again on April 6, 1988. He loved her so much he had to marry her twice, he would say. That truth could easily be seen in the way he looked at her and in both the laughs and the sacrifices they shared together. It wasn't long before they were blessed with three sweet-yet-hard-headed children, and they were the light of Jorge's and Yolanda's life.
Jorge dedicated himself to being a supportive and loving father. Whether chasing his kids around with "the Claw" or rebounding for them when shooting hoops, Jorge poured his love and time into his children. He never missed a sporting or scholastic event and spent many years coaching and cheering on their teams. Even into their adulthood, Jorge never missed an opportunity to toss around a frisbee or share a laugh over lunch.
Jorge's interests painted the picture of a man who found joy in life's simple pleasures. A die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan, Sundays were reserved for church and football. His mastery over a barbecue pit was well-known throughout his social circles - his pork ribs were a particularly hot commodity - and he was quick to volunteer his talents for just about every special occasion. He was an enjoyer of movies and was often heard quoting lines from his favorite films. And though it wasn't well-known, he was a gifted artist and a talented singer.
Those who knew Jorge will remember him as funny, loving, and friendly. He had a unique knack for making everyone around him smile. His loving nature was apparent in the way he cared for his family, always putting their needs before his own. He was the kind of person who never met a stranger and could strike up a conversation with anyone.
Jorge's legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew him. His humor, kindness, and unwavering support will be deeply missed, but the memories he created will continue to bring comfort to his loved ones. Jorge's life was a beautiful tapestry woven with love, laughter, and friendship, and it will be cherished by all who were fortunate enough to be a part of it.
As we say goodbye to Jorge Farias, we celebrate a life well-lived. We take solace in knowing that his essence will remain with us, guiding us with the light of his love. His journey on earth has concluded, but the impact of his life will be felt for generations to come. Rest in peace, Jorge. You have left us with a legacy that will never be forgotten.
