Jorge "Diego" Rojas

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jorge Diego Rojas, who went home to be with the Lord at the age of 84. Born in Victoria to the late Miguel and Emilia Rojas he dedicated his life to service, family, and faith. A proud officer of the Houston Police Department, Diego served his community with honor and integrity for 10 years. His time in law enforcement was marked by dedication and a deep commitment to keeping others safe. After leaving the Police Force he learned many different trades, welding being his favorite. Life gave him another chance at love when he met his beloved wife, Catherine "Cathy". For 22 wonderful years they built a life filled with love, faith, and family. He embraced her children, Robert and Crystal Diaz as his own and together they created countless cherished memories. Settling in Victoria after his retirement he found great joy in serving the Lord alongside Catherine and in watching his grandsons, Christian and Gabriel Diaz grow into young men he was very proud of. Beyond his immediate family, Diego also leaves behind his three daughters, Geraldine Solis (Ruben-Deceased), Georgianne Lewis (Laurence), and Jena Rojas (Adam), 9 grandchildren, and 1 great-grandson, each of whom brought him immense joy. Though time and distance sometimes separated them, he treasured the moments he was able to share with them. In his free time, he found peace in the simple pleasures of life--getting lost in his beloved western books and working with his hands in woodworking--a craft he truly loved. Diego was a man of strength, kindness, and unwavering faith. His legacy of love and service will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. Though he is no longer with us, his spirit will forever guide and inspire us. Diego is also survived by his brothers, Miguel Rojas Sr (Rose) (Victoria), Raymond Rojas (Rosie) (Edinburgh), and Dr. Peter Rojas (Julie) (Victoria). Deceased siblings include Alexandro Rojas, Guadalupe "Lupe" Rojas, Salome Guterrez, Georgia Hernandez, and Margaret DeLeon.
Tuesday, December 30, 2025, at 11:45 AM at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church with a Rosary will be recited at 12:15 PM, honoring Jorge's deep faith and devotion. The Funeral Mass will commence at 1:00 PM, celebrating his life and his journey to eternal peace. Following the Mass, Jorge will be laid to rest at Resurrection Cemetery, where he will be surrounded by the prayers of his family and friends.
Serving as pallbearers are his devoted son, Robert Diaz Ill, and grandsons Gabriel Diaz, Christian Diaz, and Andrew Solis, extended grandsons Weihan Thomas, and Aiden Carbajal.
A special thank you to Dr. Armando Diaz and the staff at Harbor Hospice, especially his nurse Misty and CNA Briana, for the care they provided for Diego.
