Jorge Tavera, 56, Miami, FL, left us on Monday, June 16th, 2025. He was born in the city of Miami, FL on December 10th, 1968 to his parents Jorge Alberto Tavera and Irma Gonazalez Aguilar.
As a loving son, father, brother, and grandfather, he was always there when needed. He was a well-respected engineering contractor within his community. His hobbies included: driving his Porsche Zippy, sharing food with his loved ones, and constantly committing himself to growing and being the best version of himself for his family.
He is survived by his two children, Dorian Tavera and Ivana Tavera (TJ Mansberger), granddaughter Violeta Tavera, who he loved dearly, Mother Irma Gonzalez Aguilar (Rolando Aguilar), his sisters Ivette Taylor (Karla Rodriguez), Roxanna (Gilberto) Villasmil, and Kasandria (Cesar) Sanchez. He is also survived by his nephew's Andrew-Kyle (Lisa) Villasmil, Anthony-Alexander Villasmil, Astro Nova Sanchez, Drako Atlas Sanchez, and his niece, Alexa-Carolina Villasmil (Gavin Graham). He is also survived by his aunts, uncles, cousins, and his beloved dog Max Tavera.
The funeral arrangements will be held from 5 pm until 10 pm on Saturday, June 21st, 2025, at Van Orsdel Funeral Home located at: 11220 N Kendall Dr., Miami, FL 33176, United States.
The following prose was written by Jorge's sister, Roxanna Villasmil.
I wanted to take a moment to reflect on a profound realization that has been on my mind recently since the passing of my brother Jorge this past Monday. It dawned on me that life has a way of sneaking up on us, and all too often, we tend to take it for granted. We may find ourselves believing that we have endless tomorrows, but the truth is that we are all living on borrowed time.
In our fast-paced world, it is easy to get caught up in the busyness of everyday life and forget to appreciate the present moment. We are often so consumed by our schedules and responsibilities that we neglect to truly live in the moment. It is essential for us to take a step back, pause, and cherish each moment that life presents to us.
Every day is a gift, and we should strive to make the most of it. Whether it is spending quality time with loved ones, pursuing our passions, or simply relishing the beauty of the world around us, let us make a conscious effort to live fully in the present. By doing so, we can cultivate a greater sense of gratitude, happiness, and fulfillment in our lives.
As we navigate the complexities of life, let us remember that time is a precious commodity. Let us cherish each moment, for we never know when it might be our last. May we learn to appreciate the here and now, and may we seize every opportunity to create meaningful memories and experiences. Always, always, always remember that the sunrise that you anticipate seeing the following morning may never rise or that full moon which glows so bright in the evening sky may dim for the rest of your tomorrows. Please love a little harder, laugh a little louder, choose your words with grace, and by all means, drive that Porsche Zippie into today's sunset, for tomorrow is never promised.

I was both shocked and sad to find out about Jorge's death last month. He was a good man who loved his family and friends very much. A social butterfly, he was the life of the party. He was generous and kind with my kids , and I send heartfelt prayers to Ivana and the rest of his family.
