With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Jorgji (Xhoxhi) Lëngu, a loving husband, devoted father, and loyal friend, who left this world on Wednesday, February 19, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family. His generosity of spirit touched the lives of all who knew him. Jorgji was a pillar of strength and wisdom for his community, always offering a guiding hand to those in need.
Jorgji was born in Fier, Albania to Marije and Jani, who were taken from him and his cherished brother Tashku at a young age. Overcoming much early adversity, he graduated from the University of Tirana and completed postgraduate studies in Hanover, Germany in Geophysics and Geology. Jorgji married his beloved wife, Vangjeli, in 1975 and they were blessed with three girls. During his first business trip to the USA in 1991 to further his expertise in oil exploration, his love for freedom inspired him to immigrate to the United States; since then, he worked tirelessly to have his family join him and his efforts were realized in 1994, finally reunited with his wife and daughters in Cleveland Ohio, where they solidified their roots.
A pioneer in seismic field processes, brilliant engineer, and visionary dreamer, Jorgji was above all a humble man whose true life’s work was in his ardent and selfless pursuits to provide the utmost opportunities for his family.
Jorgji’s legacy of tenacity, hard work, and integrity lives on in his beloved wife, Vangjeli, loving daughters, Mariana, Irma (Andreas), and Ketrin (Eric), and adoring grandchildren Filippa, Oliver, and Theodore who will miss him dearly.
Though he may be gone from this life, Jorgji’s love will forever remain in our hearts, guiding us through life's journey. We are eternally grateful for his sacrifice and of the life he shared with us and find comfort knowing he is now at peace, reunited with his beloved mom and dad.
A funeral service will be held in his honor at The Community Mausoleum of Lakeview Cemetery (Mayfield entrance of 12316 Euclid Avenue, Cleveland, OH 44106) on March 1, 2025 at 11 o’clock in the morning.
