Jorjie Lewis Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Brashears Funeral Home and Crematory - Huntsville on Dec. 11, 2025.
Jorjie Lewis passed away peacefully in her sleep on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, in her home in Huntsville, Arkansas. Jorjie was born on September 24, 1944, in Freeport, Texas. She was raised in Lake Jackson, Texas, and enjoyed spending time on the coast with her family. Her love of the beach stayed with her throughout her life. She spent many summers with her cousin Gayla on their grandparents', Asa and Eunice Lander, farm in Calvert, Texas. Her grandparents raised her during her teen years, and she graduated from Calvert High School in 1963. While attending Calvert High School, she was a cheerleader, member of the band and girl's basketball team, and was named Homecoming Queen. As an adult she lived in Austin, Texas, where she drove a school bus for the Austin public schools for several years. In 1980, she moved to Huntsville, Arkansas, with her family and worked at Labarge, now Ducommun, from 1981 to 2019, when she retired.

Jorjie was a devoted member of Huntsville First Baptist Church and served the youth group for many years. She enjoyed crafts including sewing and crochet. Jorjie cherished her family, including her aunts and uncles and many cousins, and the love of her life was her children. Her greatest joy was being "Nana" to her grandchildren. She always had a special place in her heart for children and animals.

Jorjie was preceded in death by her loving parents Spencer Hanson and his wife Jane Hanson of Angleton, Texas, and Syble Mitchell of Huntsville, Arkansas, sister Margo Lenamon of Beaumont, Texas, and grandson Chase Henry of Huntsville, Arkansas. She is survived by her loving family including daughter Tracy Stearns and husband Keith of Houston, Texas, their children Angel Stearns of Galveston, Texas, Faith Stearns of Houston, Texas, and Connor Stearns of Fort Smith, Arkansas, son Mitch Lewis and wife Catherine of Huntsville, Arkansas, and their daughter Kelsey Choate of Lowell, Arkansas, (children Alexander and Maverick), daughter Deanna Powers of Austin, Texas, and her children Hillary Powers-Nobles of Junction, Texas, (children Farrah and Gage), and Jordan Powers of Austin, Texas, (daughter Sondra) and brother John Hanson and his wife Toni of Angleton, Texas. Jorjie was loved by everyone who knew her and the faith she had in her Heavenly Father was a testament to all.

Memorial services will be 2:00 PM, Monday, December 22, 2025, at Brashears Funeral Home with James Moore officiating. Services are entrusted to Brashears Funeral Home and Crematory of Huntsville.
