Jose Calisto Alaniz

Funeral Services for Jose Calisto Alaniz, Sr. "Pepe" will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, February 2, 2026, in the chapel of Griffin Funeral Home, located at 911 Warren Drive, West Monroe, LA with Rev. Justin Uselton and Rev. Eugene Brown officiating. Family will accept friends for visitation from 12:00pm-2:00 at the funeral home. Interment will follow service at Rocky Branch Cemetery, Mattie Roan Road in Rocky Branch.

Jose loved the outdoors, yard work, mowing, planting flowers, and a vegetable garden. He did mechanic work, if it was broken or not running, Joe was going to find a way to fix it one way or another. He loved sitting on the porch with his wife, Maxine, drinking coffee or watching a movie with a cold Dr. Pepper and a honey bun. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family and attending family gatherings.

Jose is preceded in death by his parents, Jose Alaniz, Sr. and Macaria Gonzales Alaniz; sister, Tina Tarver; brother, Art Alaniz; brother, Gus Alaniz.

Those left to cherish his memories is his wife, Maxine Crain Alaniz; children, Anthony Joe Alaniz "Tony", Melanie Marie Alaniz Chapman, Joe Calistro Alaniz, Jr.; grandsons, Allen Chapman, Justin Chapman, Corey Alaniz; great grandsons, Easton Chapman and Carson Chapman.

Serving as pallbearers will be Allen Chapman, Justin Chapman, Corey Alaniz, Clay Chapman, Art Alaniz, and Eddie Price.

Honorary Pallbearer will be Scooter Howard.
