It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Jose J. Amador, who passed away on September 18, 2023.
Born Jose de Jesus Amador Martinez on May 18, 1937, in Mexico, D.F, he lived his early life in Aguascalientes, Mexico. He graduated Jr. high from the American School in Tampico, Mexico, graduated high school from St. Joseph's Academy,
Laredo, TX in 1956. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Science, Major: Welding Engineering from LeTourneau College,
Longview, TX in 1960 and served as a private in the U.S. Army, stationed in Korea approx. during 1962-1963. Jose, also known as "Joe" or "Pepe" went on to work on both domestic & overseas assignments as a Petroleum Welding Engineer and was a member of the American Welding Society.
At an early age Jose knew he wanted to see the world and build. Travel was his passion, career & hobby. Over the course of his life, he spent time in: Mexico, China, Dubai, Singapore, Europe, Germany, Spain, Venezuela, Trinidad & Tobago, parts of Texas and Louisiana. After he retired, he moved to Clarewood House in
Houston, TX the Christmas of 2018.
Jose's other hobbies included building model cars, collecting currency & stamps, reading, photography and completing DIY projects when he was at his home in Alief, Texas. He also volunteered as an usher at Notre Dame Catholic Church, and at his granddaughter's school as needed for events and field trips. He was Bi-Lingual in both English and Spanish.
Jose was preceded in death by his beloved Japanese chin, "Constantine," and is now reunited with his late mother and father: Jose Amador Ibarra and Marina Victoria Martinez de Amador, grandparents, cousin and best friend: Clara B. Deters who left us on June 27, 2022, his little brother, Hector "Bunny", and nephew, Roberto Amador Torres.
Jose is survived by his daughter, Rebecca Catherine Amador, his granddaughter, Trinity Reece Ramirez, former wife, Bede G. Amador (Fernandes), and her children. The family of the deceased includes his brothers, Roberto & Raphael Amador, sister-in-law Rosa (Roberto), nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends he made around the world.
As we mourn his loss, let us also hold dear and honor the remarkable life he lived and the significant impact he had on our lives.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am, on Friday, September 29th, at Notre Dame Catholic Church, 7720 Boone Rd.,
Houston, Texas 77072, with the viewing to beginning at 9:30 am. The Rite of Committal will be held at 9:30 am, on Monday, October 2nd, at Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Dr.,
Houston, Texas 77038.
