He was the loving husband of Marylou (Colon) Cruz.
Jose was born in Ponce, Puerto Rico on January 18, 1961, the beloved son of the late Jose A. Cruz Arroyo and Maria Arroyo Camacho. He was raised in Peñuelas before making his home in Waterbury, Connecticut, where he became a cherished member of the community. Jose was a devoted husband, a proud father and grandfather. He was known for his unwavering dedication to his family, leaving them a legacy of service, strength and unforgettable love. As a machinist at Westfalia in Bristol for many years, he demonstrated a strong work ethic and commitment to his profession. Beyond his work life, Jose had a vibrant personality and a passion for life. He found joy in music, particularly salsa, and loved to sing, dance and cook. He was an avid fan of the New York Yankees and the New York Knicks. His 85’ Camaro was not just a car; it was a symbol of his zest for life. He loved his family more than anything.
Those who knew Jose will remember him for his kindness, laughter, and the immense love he had for his family. He will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege to know him.
Besides his devoted wife of 38 years, Marylou, Jose leaves to cherish and honor his memory his children; Carmen M. Cruz of Waterbury and Anthony Cruz and his significant other Tiffany Valle of Waterbury. Jose and Marylou were blessed with two beloved grandchildren; Imari and Jacob. He also leaves his siblings; Iris Pena of Waterbury, Lucy Colon and her husband Juan of Orlando, FL, Amy, David and his wife Ingrid of New York, Griselle Nieves and her husband David of Waterbury and Jose L. Cruz of Florida. He also leaves behind his aunt; Romana Colon, his uncles; Carlos Colon and Jesus L. Cruz, many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family and friends.
