Jose "Joe" A. Gauna, 81, entered eternal rest on March 19, 2025. Joe was born in Floresville, Texas to Isidro and Andrea Rodriguez Gauna on May 26, 1943.
Joe was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps. He was a longtime employee of the Dickey Clay Manufacturing Company. He held various positions during his tenure at Dickey Clay to include union president. Joe had plenty of jobs in his life, but he was known for his mechanical skills, his love of cattle and ranch life, his sense of humor, and liked to gamble every now and then. He loved watching sports, and in the past, would always find time to make it to an Astros game.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents; the mother of his children Emma Lee Seguin; an infant brother Andres Gauna; a brother Juan Gauna and sister Oralia Rios.
Joe is survived by his children Patricia Gauna (Martin), Robert Gauna (Blanca), and Joanna Bartonek (Alex); grandchildren Erica Liedecke, Patrick Pedraza, Aaron Gauna (Meagan), Joe Robert Gauna, Courtnie Gauna; great-grandchildren Noah Liedecke, Brody Gauna, Corben Gauna, Dawson Gauna, Robert Gauna, Ross Flores, Rico Flores; brother Isidro Gauna, Jr. and sisters Mary Carvajal, Hilaria Cooper, and Alice Morales; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and numerous other loving family and friends.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, March 26, 2025 at Vinyard Funeral Home with visitation to start at 9AM. A Holy Rosary will be recited at 10AM and the Funeral Service to follow at 10:30 also at Vinyard Funeral Home. Interment will follow with Military Honors at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Cemetery in Saspamco. A memorial celebration will be held immediately after at Helton Nature Park pavilion in Floresville, TX.
