Jose A. Gomes, age 79 of Taunton, passed away on January 9, 2025 at Southpoint of Fall River with his loving family by his side.
He was the beloved husband of Rosa (Andrade) Gomes.
Born in Terceira, Azores, Jose was the son of the late Jaime and Filomena
(deBrito) Gomes.
He worked at the US Navy base as a cook in Terceria before coming to the US in 1981. He worked as a janitor at Hallsmith Sysco in Norton until he retired. He loved all kinds of clocks, watches, and radios. He always enjoyed listening to music, especially classical. Soccer was the sport that he loved and watching his favorite team, Benfica. He loved spending time with his family and especially his grandchildren.
Besides his beloved wife Rosa of over 54 years, he is survived by his daughters; Ana Havey and husband Spencer, Fernanda Gomes,Dora Gomes, Amy Pacheco and husband Dennis, brothers; George B. Gomes and wife Lucia, Francisco A. Gomes and wife Maria, sisters; Cristina B. DaRocha and her late husband Domingos, Filomena M. Pinheiro and husband Francisco, Lucia F. Silva and husband Joe, grandchildren; Matthew Gomes, Zachery Havey, Nathan Pacheco, Joshua Havey, Lilly Pacheco, Makayla Pacheco and several nieces and nephews.
Jose's funeral with visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 14, 2025 at 8:00am from the Silva Funeral Home 80 Broadway (at Saint Mary's Square) Taunton, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in Saint Anthony Church School Street, Taunton.
Interment will follow in Saint Joseph Cemetery.
