Rev. Joe M. Gonzalez Sr., beloved pastor, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on April 13, 2025, at the age of 85. Born on March 5, 1940, in Mercedes, Texas, Joe dedicated his life to serving others and living a life grounded in faith. He served as a pastor for 35 years, ministering to communities throughout South and Central Texas, where his heart for people and deep love for God touched countless lives. Joe's legacy is built upon his unwavering faith, work ethic, and generosity. For 47 years, he was married to the late Irene Gonzalez, with whom he shared a bond that shaped his family's foundation. Joe was blessed with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, all of whom remember him for his laughter, wisdom, and loving presence. Joe's faith was the cornerstone of his life. He was a tireless encourager, always ready with a word of advice or a saying that would stick with anyone who heard it. His laughter was infectious, bringing joy to everyone around him. Whether welding, repairing cars, or working the farm, Joe's hands were always busy, and his commitment to hard work was passed down to his family. He believed that service to others wasn't just a duty but a privilege, and he never hesitated to lend a hand to anyone in need, regardless of their circumstances. Known for his generosity, Joe's giving nature was not just material but emotional. He had a rare gift of making people feel seen and valued, and his influence continues to be felt by all who knew him. A visitation will be held on April 16, 2025, at Hillier Funeral Home in Bryan, Texas. The family will have a private time of visitation from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m., and friends and extended family are welcome to gather from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held on April 17, 2025, at 10:00 a.m., at Hillier Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to a charity of your choosing in Joe's honor. Rev. Joe M. Gonzalez Sr. lived a life devoted to faith, family, and service. His spirit will live on through the many lives he touched.
