Jose Jaime Gutierrez

It is with deep sorrow and enduring love that we announce the passing of Jose Jaime Gutierrez, who departed this life on August 5, 2025, at the age of 54. A longtime resident of Spring Valley, California, Jose was born in Chula Vista and raised in Lemon Grove, where he built a life rooted in family and friendship. Jaime was a loving son, brother, father, and friend. He is survived by his devoted mother, Carmen Gutierrez; his siblings Gerardo Gutierrez, Monica Cervantes, and Azucena Gutierrez; his daughter Jaymee Gutierrez; stepdaughter Marinna; stepsons Mark and Andrew; and nieces and nephews Miguel, Alexis, Trevor, Stephanie, Melody, and Gerardo Jr. He was preceded in death by his father, also named Jose Jaime Gutierrez. Throughout his life, Jaime held various roles, yet his true vocation was found in the connections he had with family. He had a remarkable gift for bringing people together. Whether through a lively game of dominoes, a shared meal, or a spontaneous phone call, just to ask how you were doing. He was always ready to spend time with loved ones. His presence was comforting, his comments witty, and his love for family unwavering. Despite facing serious health challenges, Jaime met each one with quiet strength and determination. His courage was rooted in his deep desire to stay close to those he loved. He found happiness in attending baseball games, reconnecting with cousins, relatives, and savoring good food-at any hour of the day. Jaime will be remembered for his warmth, intelligence, being witty, and the way he made others feel seen. His legacy lives on in the laughter, stories, and memories shared by all who had the privilege of knowing him. A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, September 12th, at 10:00 AM at Saint John of the Cross Catholic Church in Lemon Grove. All who knew and loved Jaime are welcome to join us in honoring his life. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that you honor Jaime's memory by spending time with your loved ones, sharing a good meal, and checking in on a friend-just as he so often did.
