Jose H. "Joey" Lamadrid

Jose "Joey" Hernandez Lamadrid, age 80, of Jacksonville, Florida, passed away on March 16, 2025, at his home with his loving family by his side. Joey was born on June 19, 1944, in Paracale, Camarines Norte, Philippines, to Victor and Taciana Lamadrid, after graduating from Paracale High School, Class of 1962. Joey attended the Philippine Maritime Institute (P.M.I), earned his Bachelor of Science in Customs Administration (BSCA) focusing on tariffs and customs, then completed the Advanced Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps, and was commissioned as an Ensign (O-1) in the Republic of the Philippine Navy. He was a proud Alpha Phi Omega member IOTA P.M.I. Chapter and served on the Board of Directors for the Camarines Norte Association of America, Chicago Chapter.
Joey immigrated to Chicago, IL, in the United States of America after graduation from P.M.I. Joey married Maggie E, a Registered Nurse, in February 1973, and they shared 52 amazing years together. Joe and Maggie made Jacksonville their forever home in 2016, where they gardened, Facebooked, fished, cooked their favorite food "crabs" from Blue Shell Crabs, cared for their pets, and bragged about their children's 300 plus musical trophies collected in their home. Joey had a successful career as a Mainframe Computer Operator for Safeway Insurance in Chicago, IL, where he worked for almost 30 years. Joey loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them during family reunions in Utah, Illinois, and Florida.
Joey is survived by his loving wife, Maggie Lamadrid, son Renato "Ray" Cabagbag, Daughter-In-Law Mandy Cabagbag, Daughter, Vivien Joy Lamadrid, son, James "Jim" Lamadrid, Daughter-In-Law, Irma Lamadrid, daughter Elaine Kajohn., Son-In-Law Vince Kajohn.; sister's Nelly, Anita, Jessie, Roselie Del Valle, brother-in-law Isidore, Arlene Baytan, brother-in-law Teodorico Baytan, brother Edwin Lamadrid, sister-in-law Sally; grandchildren Jasmine, Kayli, Keira, Dylan, Kyren, Ethan, along with many extended family members and friends.
