Jose' A. Marez Jr, "Tony" 78, of Silver Lake, Ohio, passed away peacefully on July 5, 2025, surrounded by his beloved family and close friends.
Born on March 17, 1946, in San Antonio, TX to the late Jose Sr. and Connie Marez.
Tony served in the United States Marine Corp, lived a life defined by love of family and an unwavering devotion to those he held dear. He is survived by his devoted wife of 56 years, Donna K. Marez, their love and care for one another was pretty amazing to witness. Together, they built a large and loving family, raising four children Gerald (Cheryl), Jose' III (Janice), Christina (Anthony), and Richard (Jennifer) who carry on his legacy of strength and unity. Tony was a proud grandfather to 11 grandchildren and great grandfather to 20, each of whom brought him immense pride and happiness.
Tony is survived by his brothers, Rio, Albert (Nikki), and Danny Marez, with whom he shared lifelong bonds and memories. He is joyfully reunited with his beloved parents, Jose' Sr. and Connie Marez, and his sister, Margie Perez, who preceded him in death.
A man of deep passions and simple pleasures, Tony found joy in fishing, collecting and shooting firearms, and most of all, visiting with family. His warmth, humor, and generous spirit left a lasting impression on everyone he met. When asked what mattered most to him in life, his answer came easily: “My family.”
Monday July 14, 2025, calling hours will be held at Bissler Funeral Home 628 W. Main St, Kent, Ohio 44240. from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. On Tuesday, July 15, 2025, a final viewing for Tony will be held at Bissler Funeral Home from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM. Immediately following, a short memorial service will take place, including a eulogy and an opportunity for you to share your memories of Tony.
The cemetery is about a 40 minute ride from the funeral home. There will not be a guided procession. Jose’ A. Marez Jr. will be honored with a short graveside ceremony including full military honors at Western Reserve National Cemetery, 10175 Rawiga Rd, Seville, Ohio 44273 promptly at 2:00 PM.
