Martinez Funeral Chapels - TucsonJose Antonio Osuna-Deras, a cherished musician and beloved father, passed away on July 26, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, creativity, and joy. Born on September 4, 1948, Jose began playing the guitar at a tender age of five, embarking on a remarkable musical journey that would span an impressive 71 years. His passion for music not only shaped his life but also brought joy to countless others.
Jose's vibrant personality was characterized by his kind-heartedness, energetic spirit, and a great sense of humor that endeared him to family and friends alike. He was known for his ability to light up any room with his presence and share his love for music through heartfelt performances. One memorable moment for those who had the pleasure of knowing him was when he sang to his loved ones at their 21st birthday celebrations, creating memories that will last a lifetime.
Throughout his illustrious career, Jose had the honor of performing alongside legendary artists such as Juan Gabriel, Bronco, Mana, Paquita La Del Barrio, and Pedro Fernandez, among others. His immense talent and dedication to music touched many lives, earning him the respect and admiration of fellow musicians and fans. He also took pride in his role as a performer for free at funerals, offering comfort through his art during times of grief.
In addition to his musical accomplishments, Jose was a devoted family man. He is survived by his sons, Jorge Antonio Osuna, Jose Alberto Osuna, Jose Antonio Ozuna Jr., Rene Adrian Osuna, and Jesus Aaron Osuna; daughters, Marisela Osuna and Emilia Deras; and nine loving grandchildren. His two sisters, Yolanda Osuna and Ester, also carry forth his memory.
Jose's proudest accomplishments included raising his children and leading his own mariachi band, Mariachis Jalisco DE Tony Osuna, where he shared his musical talents with the community. His love for playing the guitar was not just a passion but an integral part of who he was, crafting melodies that resonated with the hearts of those around him.
As we mourn the loss of Jose Antonio Osuna-Deras, we celebrate the rich tapestry of his life—a life filled with music, laughter, and devotion to family. He will be deeply missed but remembered fondly for his contributions to music and the love he instilled in those who were fortunate to know him.
