WATERBURY – It is with profound sadness that the family of Jose Pereira, age 74 of Waterbury share the news of his peaceful passing surrounded by the love of his family on Sunday, May 18, 2025 at Waterbury Hospital. He was the devoted husband of Lucia (Sousa) Pereira.

Jose was born on June 11, 1950 in Bragado Portugal the son of the late Olimpio and Rosinda (Diegas) Pereira. He was raised in Portugal and served with the Portuguese National Army. After immigrating to the United States he owned his own very successful local construction company for over 30 years. He was a avid soccer fan and always rooted for his favorite team S.L. Benfica. His favorite pastime was fishing and he always enjoyed having his grandsons by his side. He was an active member of the Waterbury Portuguese Club. Jose had the most generous heart and was someone you could always depend on to be there to lend a helping hand. He possessed an unconditional love for his family and friends and his legacy will live on with his family and in the hearts of those he touched most especially. Jose was exceptional in almost every way but he excelled the most at being a devoted husband, father and grandfather.
