Jose J. Perez-Colon, 74, of Poughkeepsie, New York passed on Tuesday November 19th, 2024 at
his residence.
He was born December 22nd, 1949 in Ponce, Puerto Rico. He was the son of Victor Perez and
Georgina Colon who are both deceased. Jose attended and graduated from the University of
Ponce.
On November 19, 1983, Jose married his wife Elizabeth Perez-Colon at St. Paul's Episcopal
Church in Brooklyn, NY.
Jose enjoyed many things like sword and gun collecting, reading, going to the gym, and watching all sorts of entertainment such as action movies, anime, cartoons, and baseball. He also loved cooking for his family and having a drink relaxing on his recliner. But most importantly, he always enjoyed spending time with loved ones at any chance he could get.
Every Sunday him and his wife would watch movies together in the living room while eating his wife's homemade
burritos. Another time was when he would wake up early and cook his special omelet for his youngest daughter. They would spend time watching their favorite shows before she would have to go to school. With his oldest daughter always traveling the country for martial arts tournaments. Making sure she could be the best she could be and always taught her sky is the limit. And to never hold back.
While he enjoyed relaxing, Jose was an extremely hard worker. He always wanted to make sure
his family was taken care of. He worked many odd jobs and then was drafted for the Vietnam
War where he would become a Sergeant for the US Air Force.
After the war, he worked as a butcher for Atlantic Veal Corp in Brooklyn where he lived with his wife as well as a bodybuilder. He then became the manager for the 5th Avenue Gym for over 15 years until Jose made the decision to become a massage therapist. He always put others before himself, like superman.
Always smiling and looking on the bright side of things. Always teaching others there's always a positive side to everything in life.
Funeral Service will be held at 4pm-7pm EDT on Monday November 25th at Sweet's Funeral Home 4365 Albany Post Rd, Hyde Park, NY 12538.
