Jose "Joe" Rodriguez Jr., 83, passed away on July 9, 2025 in Conroe, Texas. Joe was born on November 17, 1941 in Raymondville, Texas. He was one of 9 siblings which included 2 brothers and 6 sisters. Joe is preceded in death by his parents, Jose Mendez Rodriguez and Guadalupe Rodriguez and four of his sisters, Natalia, Raquel, Rosa and Elvira.
Joe joined the Army during the Vietnam war and shortly after his return he married the love of his life, Olga Dominguez. Together they had one son, Marcos "Gabriel" Rodriguez. They lived most of their married life in the house they had built, working in the yard they created in Conroe, Texas. There wasn't a project that Joe could not do. He built arbors and sheds, laid rock and sidewalks, and ran water and electrical lines through the yard for Olga's beautiful flower beds. Though they separated after 52 years of marriage, they found their love again before he passed.
Joe was an accountant and he worked for Mitchell Energy in The Woodlands, Texas for 27 years before he retired at the age of 57. He loved accounting and running numbers and was able to work in a field he loved among colleagues he respected.
After retiring Joe entered into his most important role as Gapa and was able to spend time with his grandsons, Eric and Kyle, while their parents were at work. Joe helped raise them into amazing young men that he was very proud of.
Joe's favorite pastime was fishing with his son, Gabriel. Joe and Gabriel fished many lakes and rivers together and once Gabriel married Stephanie, the three of them would take the boat to Lake Conroe and compete on who would catch the most fish and who would catch the biggest one.
Joe moved to Tyler, Texas with his sister, Connie, shortly after his divorce in 2022. She was his caregiver through a few surgeries and ailments. In 2024, he and Connie moved back to the Raymondville area where he was able to spend time with his brothers, Ralph and Frank and his sisters, Gloria and Connie.
For the last months of his life Joe moved home to Conroe, Texas where he spent his last days with his son, Gabriel, daughter-in-law, Stephanie, grandsons, Eric and Kyle and his former wife, Olga. He left this world knowing how much he was loved and was able to leave his family with the knowledge of how much he loved them.
Joe will be laid to rest in McNutt Cemetery where Olga will join him upon her passing. His wish was for the two of them to be buried together so the family they created can visit them both and mourn them together.
His "#1 son, #1 daughter-in-law, best grandsons, and the love of his life" will love and miss him until they meet again.
