Jose Filiberto Romero, age 79, passed away at his home in Avondale, AZ on May 21, 2024. Jose was born on February 18, 1945, in Santa Rosa, NM to the home of Miguel and Camilla (Lucero) Romero. He was reared and graduated high school in Santa Rosa.
Jose served in Vietnam under the Third US Army Company C, 2nd Battalion, 501st Infantry. He was honorably discharged after serving 3 years and received a Vietnam Service Medal, Combat Infantry Badge and a Parachutist Badge. He became an RN and retired from the Veterans Administration after many years of service.
Jose liked helping others and is remembered for his kindness and generosity. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Jose is preceded in death by his parents and all his brothers and sisters.
He is survived by his children Ron Romero (Albuquerque), Eric, Jacob, Camille Romero (Ohio) and Esmeralda Romero (Avondale). Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews and host of relatives and friends.
A Rosary and Funeral Service will take place on Saturday, July 27, 2024 at 11am at Chavez Funeral Home, Santa Rosa, NM. Burial with Military Honors will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Santa Rosa, NM.
