Fue precedido en muerte por sus padres, Teódulo y Rosario Sarmiento; y sus hermanos, Carlos Raúl Sarmiento y José Manuel Sarmiento.
José fue miembro de la Iglesia Católica San José. Tenía un gran amor por la música y le encantaba compartir ese amor con su familia. Cada oportunidad que tenía, sacaba su guitarra para tocar para su familia.
Le sobreviven su amada esposa, María García; sus hijos y nueras, José A. Sarmiento y Yuriel Rodríguez, y Omar Sarmiento y Lily Ordoñez; sus hijas y yernos, Nancy e Isidro Trejo, Farrah Sarmiento y Shawn Smithey, Cecilia y José (Jr.) García; sus hermanas y cuñados, María Elia Sarmiento Cisneros y Jorge Sánchez, y Ana María Sarmiento Cisneros; sus hermanos y cuñadas, Antonio Sarmiento Cisneros y María Ayala, y Guillermo Sarmiento Cisneros y Laura Guereca; sus nietos, Perla Trejo, Alan Trejo, Karyme Smithey, Kohen Smithey, Natalie Quintero, Briana Sarmiento, Bryson Sarmiento, Austin Rodríguez, José M. García, Valeria García, Valentina García y Kane Sarmiento.
También le sobreviven familiares extendidos: José G. Hurtado y Leonor Roldán, Rodolfo y Maribel García, y Esteban y Diana Flores; además de muchos sobrinos, sobrinas y familiares políticos en Dalton, New Hampshire y Zacatecas, México.
El servicio funebre se llevará a cabo el miércoles 15 de octubre de 2025 a las 11:00 AM en la capilla Pleasant Grove de Julian Peeples Funeral Homes, con el reverendo Pablo Paredes oficiando.
La misa de cuerpo presente se celebrará en la Iglesia Católica San José el miércoles 15 de octubre de 2025 a la 1:00 PM.

Jose Angel Sarmiento Cisneros, age 71, of Dalton, GA, passed away on Saturday, October 11, 2025 at his residence.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Teodulo and Rosario Sarmiento; and brothers, Carlos Raul Sarmiento and Jose Manuel Sarmiento.
Jose was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church. He had a very big love for music and sharing that love for music with his family. Every opportunity he had, he would pull out his guitar to play for his family.
He is survived by his loving wife, Maria Garcia; sons and daughters-in-law, Jose A. Sarmiento and Yuriel Rodriguez, and Omar Sarmiento and Lily Ordonez; daughters and sons-in-law, Nancy and Isidro Trejo, Farrah Sarmiento and Shawn Smithey, and Cecilia and Jose (Jr.) Garcia; sisters and brother-in-law, Maria Elia Sarmiento Cisneros and Jorge Sanchez, and Ana Maria Sarmiento Cisneros; brothers and sisters-in-law, Antonio Sarmiento Cisneros and Maria Ayala, and Guillermo Sarmiento Cisneros and Laura Guereca; grandchildren, Perla Trejo, Alan Trejo, Karyme Smithey, Kohen Smithey, Natalie Quintero, Briana Sarmiento, Bryson Sarmiento, Austin Rodriguez, Jose M. Garcia, Valeria Garcia, Valentina Garcia, and Kane Sarmiento; extended family, Jose G. Hurtado and Leonor Roldan, Rodolfo and Maribel Garcia, and Esteban and Diana Flores; many nieces, nephews, and in-laws also survive in Dalton, New Hampshire, and Zacatecas, Mexico.
The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, at 11:00 AM at the Pleasant Grove Chapel of Julian Peeples Funeral Homes with Rev. Pablo Paredes officiating.
Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Joseph's Catholic Church on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, at 1:00 PM.
The family will receive friends at the Pleasant Grove Chapel of Julian Peeples Funeral Homes on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM.
Burial will be held in West Hill Cemetery.
