Jose Luis ("Louie") Terrazas II went home to be with our Lord & Savior on Tuesday, September 20, 2022. He was 78 years old. He died at home in Cibolo, Texas, after a long battle with cancer. Louie was born in San Antonio, Texas on July 3, 1944, to Mr. Jose Luis Terrazas I & Mrs. Hortencia Terrazas. He leaves behind his wife, Linda Peche'; son, Jose Luis Terrazas III & wife Emily; granddaughter, Jacqueline Terrazas; grandson Jose Luis Terrazas IV; great-grandson, Jose Luis Terrazas V; daughter, Naomi Yglesias & husband Nick; granddaughter, Ariana Vela & husband Kevin; grandson, Michael Yglesias & his fiancée Heather Mackay; son-in-law, Ray Medina; grandson, Brandon Medina & wife Hannah; granddaughters, Kaitlyn & Taylor Medina; son, Larry Peche' Jr.; daughter, Ursula Regalado & husband Stanley; granddaughters, Chloe' & Anastasia Regalado; grandsons Justin & Ryan Regalado; and many other family members & friends.
Louie touched the lives and hearts of many people over the years through his music, work, and general love of people and sharing life stories. While attending Holy Cross High School, he honed his craft as a talented bass player and went on to perform in concerts around the world, in recording studios across the country, and even performed on the popular weekly television show, American Bandstand hosted by Dick Clark. In September 2008, he received the Norwegian Gold Disc Award for his work with the Sir Douglas Quintet Band. In 1990, he would go on to win a Grammy Award from the National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences for his work with the Texas Tornados as bass player on the 33rd Grammy Award winning recording of the song Soy De San Luis for best Mexican American performance.
Ever so humble, Louie rarely talked about his achievements and awards. In 1990, Louie settled in Cibolo, Texas where he served as the Head Custodian at Samuel Clemens High School for 25 years. Louie will be remembered for his strong work ethic, kind spirit, gentle and patient soul, humble heart, and mostly for his love of learning, family, and the Lord.
