JOSEPH BALAZS, age 82, of Winchester, Tenn., departed this life on Sunday, July 20, 2025, at Morning Pointe of Tullahoma following an extended illness. Mr. Balazs was born in Harvey, Ill., to the late Joseph Balazs and Marie Balazs. He was last employed for approximately 25 years at Schmiede Corporation in Tullahoma as a machinist until his retirement. He was a member of the Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Winchester. Mr. Balazs was active in the Knight's of Columbus, The Good Samaritan and he was instrumental in the initial organization of the 4th district fire department. He had a full life and many things he enjoyed when he could such as; driving his tractor, fishing, hunting, 4-wheeling, hiking and woodworking. One of his accomplishments he was proud of was his multi-gallon blood donor achievement. He loved doing things that helped other people and this was one that did. He will be remembered for his wonderful "sarcastic" sense of humor and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

In addition to his parents Mr. Balazs was preceded in death by his infant sons; Johnathan and Joseph. He is survived by his wife, Sharon Judge Balazs of Winchester, daughters; Katie Balazs and partner, Meryl of Chattanooga and Rachel Daniel and husband, David of Jonesboro, Ark., one grandson, Noah Kelley.

Visitation will be held from 5:00-8:00 P.M. Friday evening, July 25, in the Chapel of Grant Funeral Services.

A Memorial Service will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, July 26, at the Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Winchester.

Interment will follow the service in the Owens Chapel Cemetery in Winchester.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to be made in his memory to the 4th District Fire Dept., 3260 Liberty Road, Winchester, TN 37398 or a local food bank of your choice.
